Customer is the King

Few weeks ago, the quality of products made in China became serious problem. If we read the newspaper at that time, we know that the problem caused very great impacts to both sides, the customers and the producer. The health factor became the main reason of the problems that were faced by China’s quality of products.

The case of US banning to the import of China toys isn’t false. Obviously, it is because after the research that had been done, they found the concentration of lead in the paint that they used for the toys exceeds the limit of the maximum amount of lead that is safe for human. Ironically, the users of the toys are children. Their brain can be damaged because of the high amount of lead.

Not just the case of China toys, there is also a case in New Zealand because of the quality of clothes made in China. A boy suffered a burned skin after his mad in China clothes caught in the fire. After the research that has been done by the police. They found that in the clothes, there is a chemical substance that is inflammable which exceed the limit of the safety amount of that chemical in clothes.

If we reflect of these two cases, it is very sad that nowadays, there are a lot of companies that forget about the customer safety. What they just do is about the business. They just think of how to make high profit from low capital. We know that China products are very famous for their very cheap price, compared to other brands. But, behind the low price, do we know how they can make a very low price? One of the answers is that they used restricted materials which can be very dangerous for the customers. They just forget the quality of the product because of the high profit that they can get.

Maybe they forget the important law in the business is that customer is the king. Customers are the people who buy theirs products. They can’t do anything if no one wants to buy their products. They can’t live without the customers. Now, after the cases, people tend to avoid buying China’s products. So, who will be damaged afterwards? Of course, the producers will be. Now, the company that produces the toys that contain concentration of lead that exceeds the limit suffered very high penalty. They became bankrupt because of the quality of their toys. The head of the company has committed suicide, and now thousands of the employees are forced to lose their jobs.

Therefore, the quotation that customer is the king is very important. All the producers have to ensure that their products are in good quality for their safety customers and also the rights of the customers to get good stuffs. The high quality producers is the producers who can give these to their costumers.

Hostages and Dilemma

It is not rarely that when we watch action movie, the protagonist character will take hostages when he is in difficult situation or when he is demanding something. Ironically, maybe it has been in our mind that taking hostages is a way to get what we want.

About one month ago, Taliban capture 23 Korean missionaries who went for humanity mission in Afganistan. The people came with peace, helping the Afganistan people to get well from the condition of war. In fact that they would get safety and security along their mission in Afganistan, they were captived by Taliban as hostages.

Taliban used them as hostages in purpose to make the Afganistan government to release some of Taliban soldiers released. In addition, they will also kill the hostages one by one, each one every decided deadline approached.

Until now, there are already two Korean were killed. The Afganisthan governments doesn't seem never ever grant Taliban's request. On the Taliban side, they also don't seem want to release the Koreans. Now, they tend to give the deadlines when if their request isn't granted, they will kill one of the hostages.

This condition is like dilemma for Afganisthan government. They have to decide whether protect the rights of the foreigners that came as missionaries to their country, or to protect their own citizens from the threats if they release the prisoners as the Taliban's request. Even the wisest person maybe can't decide which one is better.

I think the way that Taliban took is very wrong. Same as the other people that take hostages to get their requests approved, I don't think that it is the good way to do. They just give away innocent people to get requests granted. Ironically, the asked requests aren't good at all, even if the requests were granted, they could danger the society by making more and more people suffered.

Now what can we do when these things happened? One thing for sure, there is no any good answer to be the solution. Then what can we do is to prevent all these things happen. Taliban wouldn't do these things, if there is peace if there is peace in Afganishtan. The criminals will also unable to take hostages if they can be caught in advance.

But, when these things happen, what we can do is only to take which one do we thing happen, then pray that the decisions we make will be the best decision. That's all we can do..

We Need Action, Please

Do you these days hotter than several years ago? Do you feel that the weather changes sometimes changes suddenly and does not same as it is used to be in its season? If you feel it, so it means that you have to do something for our environment now. If do not feel it, then you have to put more attention to our environment, and realize that the condition is very urgent. Our environment needs our contribution now.

Basically, the things in rhetorical questions above are the effects of the global warming, environmental problem which the whole world face nowadays. Referring to the article, global warming can cause the ice in North and South Pole melts and causes increasing of sea level. Global warming also can affect the life cycle of every creature in this earth. As a result of global warming, this earth can be very horrible. Our young generation maybe will not ever know some extinct animals that ever last in this world and finally die because of this environmental problem.

In the article that I refer to, it is stated there that scientist has estimate that people all over the world need to change their habit that can cause global warming and start to safe the earth from that horrible threat. The scientist states that we only have thirteen years more to safe our earth, or something horrible that we do not want to see and affect our young generation will happen.

Through this environmental problem I think we as one of the creatures that use the earth to life have to change our bad habit that can damage our mother nature and start now to safe our environmental. What we have to do is not too difficult. We have to start helping our mother nature from ourselves. From now, we have to start to use the electrical energy wisely; try to not always use private cars to go; and also do any activities which can help our mother nature from the global warning.

Do not ever think that thirteen years is still a long period of time to go. Later when the time comes, it is very useless if we regret. The time can not be round back anymore. We will not able to do anything if the time comes. The damaged earth can not be healed anymore and we will be very near to the end of the world.

Thus, global warming is a problem that has to be highlighted in our activities from now. We must do some action to safe our environment. We have to remember that this is our only chance to safe the earth and every creature inside. Regretting later is useless. Later when the time comes, there will not any second chance. Therefore, the message from me: we must to safe the earth now.

Freedom Also Has Limits

Is freedom good? Many people will say yes. Since few decades ago, or maybe some centuries ago, people always find and demand the thing that called freedom. They argued that the freedom is one of the basic human rights that have to be fulfilled whatever the condition is. However, I do not think so. Nowadays, for example, many people tend to demand more that the freedom that they get, even they misuse the freedom that has been given to them. Furthermore, they do not want to be responsible of what they have done.

I think it is still fresh in our mind when we heard the sad news about Virginia Technology University Massacre. Because of he feel being bullied by his friends, a South Korean guy entered one of the university blocks, locked its doors, entered the classrooms, and shoot all the people in that block with guns that he bought few days before. His stupid act caused 32 people died. Most of the people who died are teenagers that still have long life to go and also bright future in front of them.

This example shows us how horrible the effects of freedom to own weapon. This article, which I refer to, explains that the government of Virginia State wanted to make gun control law. But why only know? Why only after the massacre happened? Why the government only starts to step forward after 32 people died.
I think people can not get all the freedom they want. There are some freedoms that are dangerous if they are still allowed. Refer to the article, the freedom to own weapon in American is the suitable example for this argument. Personally, I think this freedom is unnecessary. Maybe people want to have weapon for the protection for themselves, but have ever the government think that the people can purposely misuse the real function of gun and use it to kill the people they do not like. If the people still want to have gun, it means that the people does not believe the police, and it is the must for the government to increase the citizen's beliefs to the police.

In conclusion, I think freedom is important, everyone have to have their own freedom, but there are several freedoms that people do not need to get for the individual and also society's safety and security.

In addition, I think we, especially the students that sometimes become naughty and like to bully our friends, can take one precious lesson from the Virginia Tech Massacre. Sometimes maybe we like to bully our friends, and we think that act is interesting and entertaining, but we have to think that maybe that person does not like it. It will be better for us to care with our friends and not bully them seriously. If one day the person come to our classes with .44 mm magnum, so it means that we do not have to regret anymore, so think about it.

Jesus' Tomb: Truth or Bogus?

Just few days ago, I read a very surprising news article; a tomb in Jerusalem has been claim as Jesus and his family's tomb. Furthermore, the news became worse when I heard that a famous film director, James Cameron, who has made famous film, such as Titanic wanted to make a documentary about this discovery.

I, as a Christian, feel that this news is not good news to be heard. There are many reasons why this news is not good even to be published, even to be made into a documentary film or a book.

Firstly, one thing that makes me unhappy is the truth whether the tomb is Jesus' tomb or not haven't been proved. I found that the news only intimidated Christians about their God without ensuring the truth. It is true what the scientists and scholars said that there were many people who were named Jesus, Mary, of Judah in period when Jesus was alive.

There are no any evidences which claimed that Jesus was buried there, had married with Mary Magdalene and had a son named Judah. Until now, they can only prove that Jesus has different DNA structure with Mary, which means that they are husband and wife because they were buried in one ossuary. But the truth was still asked because Jesus and Mary are popular names and there could be a spouse with same names with a son named Judah.

Secondly, if the truth has not been confirmed, why the film director, James Cameron, still wanted to make a documentary film? I think what he did is very wrong. The documentary that he will make will give great impacts to the society, especially to Christians.

If James Cameron has made the film very similar with he tells about facts, many people will get the effects of the film. They will think that Christians has made faults about the God. Consequently, they will say that Christian is not a religion that supposes to be followed. For Christian, especially for those who have weak faith, they will think that the have go to wrong religion and they will want to quit and move to other religions.

In Conclusion, this news supposed to be checked the truth; people or mass media supposed to not publish it before the truth has been proven. Wrong information can give great impacts to the society. Therefore, before they are going to publish the information, or even make a documentary, please consider to the truth and also think about the effects which will be caused, whether it will damage one or more sides or not.

Indonesia Tried to Stop Mud Volcano

Natural disasters seem repeatedly coming to my home country, Indonesia. After earthquake and Tsunami which beat Aceh, earthquake continuously happened in many parts of Indonesia. Not just that, flood, storm, volcano, even mud volcano have been troubles for Indonesia.

This disaster came when one of the Indonesian oil companies tried to drill for finding the oil source. When the drill had come to certain depth, suddenly it broke the underground pipe of gas. As a result, the gas pushed mud came out to the ground and caused flood of mud in the area of the drilling point.

Mud volcano in Sidoarjo, East Java, has happened since last June and has forced more than 15,000 people to displace to other places. Furthermore, the flood has caused many rice field submerged, and many infrastructures broken. The transportation way, both the road and the railway, to the main city of East Java, Surabaya, can not be crossed anymore. Thus, many financial lost have been caused during this disaster.

Many alternative ways have been tried by Indonesia Government, but all the ways were failed. Before I left Indonesia for Singapore, I heard that a Russian Scientist offered his planned to the committee of mud volcano prevention to help Indonesia stopping the mud volcano. It was very unfortunate that I did not know the continuation because I had already left Indonesia when the result came out.

I just know this latest news when I am going to write this blog. The committee tried to do the concrete balls method. They put some concrete balls to the centre of the mud volcano. They hoped the concrete balls can reduce the volume of mud which goes out.

As an Indonesian, I really hope the disaster will stop soon. There is already a lot of people have become victims. I very regreted that the government could not react fast to help stopping the mud volcano. When the failure in drilling for oil happened, Indonesian government was very slow to take reaction to stop it.

As a result, now the mud volcano produces about 50 swimming pools capacities of mud every day and it will be more difficult to stop. Not just that, in handling of the victims, the government seems to be so slow. They were only given small amount of compensation instead the victims must find new home to live. I feel very pity to hear that the victims which most of them are poor people have to find new home with limited fund.

I hope, with this new way, this disaster will be stopped soon. A lot of people have suffered because of it. A lot of financial lost has also been caused. In fact, the money which has been use to stop the disaster can be alternatively used to pay all Indonesia's loans and build Indonesia to be a better country.
